"Biden Defends Stimulus, But Better Economy Isn't Helping Obama"
"Proving a negative is always a challenge, but there's mounting evidence that the controversial $787 billion stimulus bill is achieving one of its major goals: shortening the recession. Economists at Goldman Sachs say that the bill, officially called the American Recovery and Reconstruction Act, has resulted in a 2%-3% boost to annual GDP in the second and third quarters of this year, turning what could have been a worsening recession into potential growth. For President Barack Obama, whose poll numbers have dropped precipitously from around 65% to around 50% as Americans have become worried about government spending and health-care reform, that should be good news: he fought hard against Republican opposition to push the bill through Congress as one of his first legislative acts, and the fact that it's working should be a vindication. But it's not that easy. Recent polls show widespread disapproval of the stimulus bill: 51% of Americans polled last month by USA Today and Gallup said they thought the government should be spending less under the plan, while 44% said they thought the government was spending the right amount, or should be spending more. If anything, it seems, the stimulus plan is hurting the President even as it helps the country."

Wow man this guy has been in office for 8 to 9 month's the economy collapse under the last admistration there's 2 wars going and you expect what? Look people like you are the reason why this country is in trouble. People actually think that the rich and powerfull will help you. when there's a national disaster or war breaks out who take charge goverment. People we had the department of homeland the partriot act pass and i bet you were mum. All this righties remind me of school kids doing name calling because they cant do nothing else. Obama is just cleaning up the mess and wants to fix the issue not patch it so it breaks again.

He is about something else...........like taking over the country......
You liberals need to bring more to the discussion than race cards and Bush cards. Obama is in power now and not doing much to fix anything..........only to servie his own agenda......to move into socialism..... what exactly has he done to oversee Wall Street? he is still allowing the same old tricks.......
even Barny Frank had the gall to want loans for condominiums for people who cannot afford them...........the sale old crap!
If you want your policies to succeed ...try honesty..... trying to rush things through with sneaky provisions inside the bills to allow such things as paid for abortions..........well...it is just plain dishonest and sneaky.
Americans will not forget! The TRUST is LOST! It will take alot to gain it back.

Joe Biden says the stimulus is working as planned. Unemployment is 9.7%. It is working so well. Go back on your vacation or to the secret location, that you told everyone about.
Who knew O'biden would be this bad, this fast. The Obama "charm" has worn off.
Obama never had a real job, and now when he can't use his personality or speeches, he is lost.
He was always the reason something worked, and now he is the reason everything is failing.

I think we should tax Americans who choose not to work. What a source of revenue that would be. Anyone over the age of 18 but younger that 67.

I'll have to read the entire article when I have more time, but I loved this line:
"Every working American knows the difference between going to work and going to Vegas....unless you're on Wall Street."
I don't think that most people in the country have come to grips yet with the irresponsible and useless activities of the con artists on Wall St. and elsewhere that have cost us so much.

KUCINICH DEMANDS DETAILS FROM INSURANCE INDUSTRY LEADERS
Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich wants insurance company executives to explain their business practices -- namely how much money is spent determining a patient's coverage.
Politico's Chris Frates reports that Kucinich, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Domestic Policy Subcommittee, sent letters last month to executives at Aetna, WellPoint, Cigna, United Health and Humana asking them to testify before his committee on Sept. 17. The companies have until Tuesday to respond to his request.
"We're looking at their business model," Kucinich said in an interview. "There seems to be a misunderstanding of the nature of the insurance companies. They have an investment model, and their job is to get a return for their shareholders; it is not to provide health care. There's misperception that somehow their job is to provide health care.
Kucinich explained to Politico: "If you don't understand the business model of insurance companies, any legislation that you may craft may actually be off the mark...There's not that much transparency with respect to their business, so this is an opportunity for insurance company executives to come forward and just explain their business."

For a long time I thought I was the only one who had ever thought of this (HA!) tax directed at Wall Street stock market trades. They looted our country. This would be a way to recoup some of our losses. It would be an ongoing source of tax revenue into the future. It would help cut down on frivolous trading, etc.
