I was 6 years old when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. For the next 5 Apollo missions American astronauts walked on the moon and all of them were televised live. We watched them in school and even though I was under 10 at the time distinctly remember Nixon getting free TV time as much as possible.
I don't remember the democrats going batshit because a republican president was obviously trying to brainwash their children.

Yes, that's a good point! I didn't realize that is what you meant.
Most comparisons are to Vader and that just irks me, lol. Cheney's no hero. Not that it's a big deal in any way!

My favorite characters from that series remain Han and Lando. In a universe ruled by Jedi and Sith supermen they stood up and took them on.

Really, LB, I had no idea we had so many people afraid of their own shadows. Geez.
It won't take the place of civics, curriculum at the heart of any democracy, but talking to kids who feel forgotten and dehumanized is a threat?
We all need a president we can relate to and look to for leadership. What this president can give kids is a sense of belonging. What better role model to show them why schoolwork is important. Many kids are still in the narcissistic stage and need an important figure who can show them a world beyond themselves.

So far, the department of Education has released an outline of the president's upcoming talk to youngsters. NOTHING in that talk is even remotely partisan. So what the fuck is your problem Ronnie?
The POTUS is going to try to inspire young children to be better students. You are against this? Don't you see how stupid that is?
