What do you think is the matter with Obama's wimp-like reception to all things tainted GOP? Has he been bought off by Big Money like 90% of all the other Congresspeople? Why isn't he getting tough with the Dems and blowing off the asinine GOP rabble?

I really liked you when I first heard your comments. I liked your documentary even though I believe in a God. And you are a smart man. But when you couldn't see that the professor was trying to set the cop up with the oldest trick in the book, I figured your not as smart as I thought. Its simple, Call the cops mother a name and piss him off enough and maybe he will call the professor the N word. Then he will have him. A racist. The professor Racially profiled the cop,The cop is the only person in this situation who was right . And Im disappointed you didn't caught that. But hey. Get back to me if you want to talk to somebody who grew up in the streets

I would like to know why the video of the interview with Jeff Sharlet has been pulled from You Tube. Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

On July 31, the Center for Inquiry (a think tank advocating science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values) sent a representative to a segment on Fox News hosted by Father Jonathan Morris called "God Talk." When the representative revealed that he is an atheist, but also that he still believes in a whole range of values best described as "secular humanism," he received a great deal of criticism. Could you show this clip and provide any commentary? The "God Talk" segment was a part of the Fox News show, "The Strategy Room." Thanks, Neil

The things Jeff Sharlet said about "The Family" on the show fit almost precisely with the actions and words of both Republican leaders and their apologists in the media. These people act like the rest of us exist to do what's best for them. Republicans are in office for only one reason: to act in the best interests of large corporations rather than what's best for the majority of the public. Republicans and media supporters act like their individual careers are overwhelmingly more important than the lives of the public. They trade-off morality for money from big businesses which demand that they kowtow for their money or be voted out of office. They are authoritarians who tell us how to think rather than giving us unbiased information and encouraging us to decide for ourselves. Fox, in particular, is insidious because they are so ingeniously manipulative, calling themselves "fair and balanced" and asserting that "We report; you decide." The "No Spin Zone" is all spin. In their world, no lie is to big and no distortion too extreme. They put up an articulate person with a loud voice, skilled in the art of making people look bad, against idealists and intellectuals who are completely inexperienced in presenting pithy answers to a television audience looking for a quick winner and loser. Republican leaders and their media supporters are extremely well-paid to make things that are bad for the public sound reasonable. These people have the ability to make people believe that changing the law to make people quit hiding income offshore sound like a tax hike. To listen to them, the elderly are better off without the government negotiating lower drug prices on their behalf. Jeff Sharlet is right. Republicans act like they are the "Chosen Ones." They learn the tactics of Hitler, Pol Pot, and the mafia and use them to try to make the public believe that "might is right."

Mr. Maher, After watching your documentary i have a few things to say that i wish you would have included in your documentary. First off, I myself am not a religious person. I was raised Presbyterian, in southern california, and attended two years at a christian middle school. I found myself questioning religion and God at an early age. It was hard for me to accept non-belief at a young age, but as you well know, when it comes to religion and the belief's of many popular religeons, something's fishy. So no, i don't believe in god and i'm satisfied with the belief that i don't know where we came from our why we're here. Anyways, on to my point. I believe that you're stirring up controversy with no real solution. You're only instegating an age old battle to higher levels without any real reason or positive outcome in mind. Really, the message i'm trying to convey to you is that you should give more credit to what religeon has done for us. And by us i mean anyone living in civilized nations. I firmly believe that if it were not for religeon, you and i probably wouldn't be here, as it would be tough for people to co-exist without a moral constitution to live by. Furthermore, it's important to note - is it really wrong for people who can't think for themselves to be guided towards religeon for answers? Most of what christianity teaches is loving, acceptance, and forgiveness. Which are all traits that aren't necessarily inherent in human behavior. They are partly learned and they are the foundation of our culture that allows us to enjoy peaceful living. We can all walk the streets at night and sleep soundly, to some degree, because of the years of moral influence, largely influenced by the practice of religeous conditioning. So in some regard, you are enjoying the fruits of what religeon has brought to the table and then attempting to make a mockery of it. Yes, there are extremists, and these people should be taken out back and shot twice in the head or put through massive amounts of therapy, though i doubt the latter would have much effect. They should be stoned, outcasted or thrown in jail for all i care. Regardless, your documentary was not fair or un-bias. You're asking non-believers to "come out of the closest," and not be scared to share their feelings that religeon is a crock of shit. Which, for the most part, i believe. I'm not coy about this nor am i scared to admit it. But i'm not convinced that i want to live in a world where there are no religeons or religeous upbringing. This conditioning of people might be a necessary key to co-inhabitance. As you well know there are many weak minded and ignorant people. Or in religeous terms - sheep - and i think it's good that there is a place for them to seek guidance, help, and forgiveness. Yes, we live in a world where a lot of bad things are done in the name of religeon, but you have no data to compare the current state of affairs with what it would be like in a world without religion. Is it a coincidence that recorded history only dates back to a few thousand years before christ? Not at all, because people organized themselves and were governed by the fear that no matter what, there was always someone watching you. And if you do bad things then you'll end up in hell or punished. I mean, come on, if you're dumb enough to believe it, then maybe you SHOULD! You and i might be better off. Which is my point, it seems like you're picking a fight with religeon without offering a better solution. Do we really want a bunch of idiots running around with no morals and no belief that they'll get punished when they do bad things? Probably not. So i think the underlying point that you're missing, is that Religeon has done some great things for us, and it's not really fair to pick a fight without any real cause or benefit. In other words, "you're rocking the boat, without steering it in any better direction." Instead, why not offer a solution or an alternative for people that seek some sort of spirtual or moral constitution. Here's a solution - you could be an advocate of love or morals or of some other set of teachings. Instead of believing in the Red JuJu God of the mountain ("Richard Dawkins") or something that doesn't exist, believe in what does exist and practice moral concepts, love and acceptance. Anyways, i'm saying this as an advocate of what you're trying to accomplish. Assuming that you were hoping for some good to come out of your expose on religeon. In the form of a question, "Do you think it's a good thing for dumb people not to fear God?" Keep fighting the good fight! Brent Burghdorf

Hey Bill, The reason that the FED is under so much scruity and that Mr. Elliot Spitzer has called it a giant ponzi scheme is becaues the FED is a private CORPORATION, not a government entity. Most people to dont know this nor understand why this is in place. The FED has total and complete unregulated monitary powers over our government and charge interest to our government for this service. Your guest was absolutely wrong in his understanding of the FED. Please reference a film called The Money Masters for a more thorough understanding of what the FED really is and what it really does. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-515319560256183936 There are dozens of congressional hearings that can be sited that adress what I have written about. Please bring up this topic in your next show.

Hey Bill! I quit watching your show mostly because you accused all of Oklahoma of being "racist". This "Okie" was in the hospital all night with my beautiful blonde-haired blue-eyed son. He was attacked and beaten by nine black men while he was skate-boarding. Please stop with your race-baiting. You don't know what your talking about. P.S. God made weed.

Hi Bill Congress has just left for their well deserved summer break. They have not done a fucking thing. They should be fired. Like anyone else who doesn't get their work done, they should be fired. Instead of worrying about how many lobbyist or corporations they will piss off, they should do what the fuck they are elected to do. REPRESENT THE PEOPLE !!! If they do not YOU ARE FUCKING FIRED !!!!!!

Hi Bill Thank you for pointing out the some of the twisted perspectives of some of the christian movements of today. You should also mention their propaganda tactic's that try to keep the poor and middle Americans in the dark. The people who should fight against these people are putting them in office. That is the great travesty of all. People need to wake up and understand that if a person puts on the Christian monachal you should give them a close look. You may be surprised at what you find. The C- street gang is only one example of piety and power gone awry. Wake the fuck up so called Christian's.

In regards to earlier post Outstanding show, Bill. My question is about the Democratic version of the pending health bill is that it is expected to cover Illegal aliens. The Dems narrowly defeated a Repub amendment that would have that provision removed. I feel that as far as illegal immigration is concerned, we haven't seen anything yet if this passes into law. Reply to the above statement In England you are covered whether you are a citizen or not. Not that I'm an advocate of Illegal Immigration. Health care should be for all. It should not be a partisan issue. -- Edited by bear269 at 08/01/2009 2:36 AM PDT -- Edited by bear269 at 08/01/2009 2:48 AM PDT
