And, really, wasn't Christopher Moltisanti just the reincarnation of Gonzo? And notice how, in the end, his nose was his downfall; not because he hoovered half of Columbia up there and turned his heart into a bag of blood, but because T Soprano couldn't resist pinching that big konk and snuffing him out.

If you're saying that the show was the characters, then yes, of course, that's true. Still doesn't mean you have to like them, though. It isn't a prerequisite. It wasn't The A-Team.

Make no mistake, my friends, if Tony Soprano's crime 'family' had been in government, America would have been a facist state. Soprano and his friends were racist, misogynistic, anti semitic, homophobic murderers.
You don't have to like the characters in order to watch the show.
