Thinking of either an actor or a character on True Blood, who do you think doesn't get enough air time and should either get more lines or their own show? -- Tim HBO Forums Host

I really disliked Jason in the books but Ryan Kwanten gives him some added dimensions which makes him a tiny bit more lovable. I am also having a hard time with Sophie-Ann, I don't know exactly how I mentally saw her, but this definitely wasn't it.

I think this is such an amazing ensemble cast. Nelsan Ellis Rutina Wesley and Ryan Kwanten really stand out, espcially since they play such smaller roles to varying degrees in the books. Deborah Ann Woll was also amazing as an entirely new character, she was so unexpected. I really hope Kristen Bauer is able to express the hilarity that is Pam, please give her more screen time. This holds true for Alexander Skarsgard as well, both are completely underutilized. I don't think you could have picked a better Sookie than Anna Paquin, her performance was a given. I wasn't happy with the choice for SA but having one complaint is minor. I had pictured or hoped for a Leelee Sobieski type.

AS has > to play the bad guy we love to hate And this line demonstrates why Alex is the best actor on TB ... however, laffy, Sam, Tara, Hoyt, Jessica all tied for second! AB tried to get people to "love to hate Eric" but because of Alex's brilliant, nuanced portrayal ... no one hated him ... except "Bill" lovers...lol Sad that they are threatened by his Alex's amazing acting, screen presence, power, stunning looks, and the "fact absoulte" ... he steals every single scene we are lucky enough to see him in. Yep ... we wil have MORE Eric in the future. The waiting audience demands this and afterall, it is the unerversial law of an "Alpha Male" to get what he wants. AB is not stupid and neither are we. popcorn for smart people ...remember? She's mine I'm part of her now Get out of the way Just sayin

I really think the sucess of this show boils down to the massive amount talent we see in ALL the characters. How ever the most captivating character that has really made a niche and a triumph for him self is Lafayette played by Nelson Ellis. If you read the books you know he is supposed to be dead by now. Thank God he isn't. He uses a very subtle touch on a very ostentatious character. He has so much power and complexity I really can't wait to see how he develops. The only other character I REALLY want to see more of is Hoyt Fortenberry played by Jim Parrack. I think he is just dreamy and again such a subtle actor. His romance with Jessica really made the second season for me. Without it would have been very very dark.

I believe the breakout is Alexander Skarsgard (followed by Nelsan and Ryan). The reason I choose Alexander is he had so very little screen time compared to the others, but still he made the most of his talent and stole every damn scene he was in. (Reviewers say the same thing.) Sure Alexander is handsome, but handsome only takes you so far in the business. I wish the other guy's fans would quit whinning about his popularity being only his looks. Worried much, Billsbabes? Honestly, both vamps are doing a good job. There is room for both of them, I say. I really hope AB is going to give us more depth to Eric's character (doesnt have to be exactly like the books either) so that he is not so one dimensional. Come on Alan, we are fairly savy TV viewers... we are capable of handling our hero (Bill) with flaws and not so boring saintly, and our bad guy (Eric as you seem determined to play him) as having the capacity to find his humanity just like Bill. It has always been more interesting to me the idea of the 1,000 year old vampire learning to change and love (ie Godric style). But this is me... oh... and many many others apparently.

I have to agree with you, Compton. Although most of the actors have had other roles, especially Anna, this series has been a big leap up for most, if not all, of them. -- Edited by Host_Jane at 09/28/2009 7:08 AM PDT

I think that pretty much the entire cast is break out actors because they are all so talented. SM and AS are at the top of my list because they have some diificult characters to play. I mean SM is a charming humorous Brit who has to act like a brooding southern vampire. And Bill has been getting the short end of the stick sense eric showed up in the series. AS has to play the bad guy we love to hate, and that's not an easy thing to pull off. Despite how dispicable and conniving eric is, AS still makes us like him for the respect he sometimes shows bill and sookie and his veiled senses of love, commitment, and possibly humanity.

I think it's a huge testament to AS's acting that he can make us LOVE a character that the writers and AB clearly want us to despise. Eric would be one-dimensional and a lost cause if he was portrayed by a lesser actor... especially with the way some of the scripts are written.

That's why AS was good, he made Eric very memorable in those few episodes. Of course, his looks don't hurt, the camera loves his face and tall stature. But he's been able to pull off some wonderful scenes as well. Not to say the other actors should be slighted either; Ryan, Sam and Nelsan and Ruthina made their characters believable and endearing.

It is a testament to AS acting skills that he can make the Billettes hate him so. The proof in the pudding will be who gets acting nods at the Emmy's next year foe season 2. While it might be AS, AH, ST or NE it will not be (again) AP or SM.

Honestly, the entire cast is just amazing. But I think Jason and Lafayette were the most riveting because they truly inhabit the skins of their characters. I never, or very very rarely, catch them 'acting.'

Definitely NOT Alexander Skarsgard! He is not that talented and I am sick of everyone saying so because he is good looking. He is handsome but talent is definitely lacking. Best breakout Sam Trammel, Nelsan Ellis, Rutina, and Ryan! They become their characters! I love any story line with them in it. So sad a Comic Con when everyone was giving so much attention to Alexander for the few episodes that he was in and very little to the good actors. There are those of us out there that recognize the true talent.
