Aaine posted: I have a theory about this V thing...surprise surprise lol. In a nutshell I think Sookie is a magical null.

This means a human who is unaffected by magic.

This is coming from the books, but also from Alan Balls comments about how Sookie is going to have other abilities in the show.

She can't be glamoured by vampires, and she isn't affected by the maenad - we've seen that already on TB.

In the books we've seen both of those things (the maenads effect on Sookie in the books was a response to the other humans going batty, not Calisto herself), as well as seeing her able to resist witches spells in Bk 3 and Bk 4. We haven't got that far on TB yet but we should see the first inkling of it when she goes to Josephine's (or whatever Ball calls it...can't imagine he will use that cheesy name) in season 3.

One of the Sookie short stories introduces the concept of a magical null - it hasn't been expanded on in the main books yet but it was mentioned a couple of times in the short story "Lucky" and I think it's something CH is saving up for later. I think Ball is about to run with it.

I think this is what the Glowy Hand of Fail is all about.

The hallucinations induced by vampire blood are a form of magic and if she is in fact a null, it would explain why it doesn't affect her in that way. Also explains why she didn't succumb to Maryanne, and why she can't be glamoured.

By George, Aaine, I think you've got it. Brilliant assessment/theory.

And I'm also guessing that if a person doesn't drink the blood from the source, it's not considered actually drinking that vamp's blood? Sookie took blood from Bill and Eric and therefore was bonded to them. But if you take V, I guess that blood is too old to bond you to the vamp that it came from?

Now that you mention it, yeah, I think they did. And also, in the show, i think the age of the blood itself was mentioned. *sigh* maybe i'm being hardheaded but that still doesn't make sense to me. You'd think the fresher the blood, the bigger the effects it would have. But it seems the opposite is true.

In the books, didn't they mention that it also had something to do with the age of the Vamp, and also, the direct feed?

Something that was bothering me until I watched episode 1.5 with the commentary on. And they addressed my issue but it still felt like a total cop out...

My problem was with the use of V. We saw what a whole vial of it did to Jason. We also saw what a drop of it did for him. And we know that lots of people use it as a drug. But yet Sookie has had a lot more than a vial of it in order to get better after injuries. And all it does is heal her and make her senses keener.
In the commentary, they mention that it all depends on the person as to how you'll react.
Maybe Sookie's reaction is the exception to the rule. I mean it's used as a drug. So obviously Jason's reaction is more the norm than Sookie's reaction was. I don't know. I'm probably being nit-picky again. It just kinda bothered me the HUGE difference in their reactions to V. Especially considering the huge difference in the amounts they ingested. All we got to see of sookie's reaction was her healing and her smelling a crumb on the floor. Poor Jason had to go have his johnson drained...and then he had even less and the trees were breathing and Tara became a godess of sorts.

I agree with you Sugr Sam and Tara doing it was really weird like seeing a bear and an Otter getting it on.

There's no way I can possibly keep up with every link that's posted here and surely most of you guys have seen this interview already:
http://truebloodwiki.hbo.com/page/True+Blood+Spoilers+-+Season+3

Aaine's theory of the flashbacks sounds pretty plausible to me also... Especially since in that interview, AB said that:
"Certainly, Jason is going to be consumed with guilt. And he?s going to feel like, ?I?ve ruined her life and I?ve got to make her feel better.? Whether that?s wise in any way shape or form remains to be seen. I think Tara certainly gave up on her obsession with Jason, but now that she?s dealing with the worst thing that ever happened to her, she might be more vulnerable to his charms."
We already know that Jason has flashbacks (seeing Liam do Maudette on the videotape)...

Man. I just don't know about seeing Tara do anyone. I'm rewatching season 1 and I gag and throw up a little in my mouth each time she and Sam are together. Tara and Sam together was just weird.

Aaine, I agree that this makes the most sense. It wouldn't be much different than Lafayette seeing Eric in Lettie Mae's dress.

Our very own Viking vampire, Eric (Alexander Skarsgård ) ?will have?a new girl (!) Eric?s latest is someone named Yvette, a Czech-born stripper at Fangtasia.

Very interesting.... let's see if Sookie get jeaulous..
I am wondering what she is capable of..when she sees Eric and Yvette together.:)
